Wake up!Just like breakfast is the most important meal of the day, what you do during your morning workday routine can have a significant impact on the rest of your day’s productivity. Being productive in the morning sets the tone for the entire day and it can be integral in a company’s overall success. If you need a better workday morning routine, then give the following six tips a try and you might just find that yourself, and your business, are more productive.

#1 – Prepare for Tomorrow Today

Before you leave work for the day, take a few minutes to look over the following day’s schedule and prepare for it. Getting yourself organized for the following day will help you start off the day instantly aware of what you have to do while also being a step ahead in the process.

#2 – Turn Off Your Cell Phone

Unless you have incredible will power, odds are your smartphone is a source of distraction throughout the day. Control the urge by turning it off. If you still can’t control yourself, then turn it off and have a trusted colleague hold on to it for you. Either way, by eliminating that distraction, you will be able to focus more on work and you’ll get more done.

#3 – Avoid Checking Email Until Lunch

Along with your smartphone, checking your email can also cause you to lose valuable time in the morning. In most cases, no urgent information is going to be sent via email, so avoid the temptation and wait until your lunch hour to check your email.

#4 – Improve Your Posture

Believe it or not, how you sit can have a huge impact on your energy level in the morning and throughout the day. If you slouch over in your seat, then you are going to feel lazy and lethargic. Instead, work on improving your posture so more oxygen can travel to your brain. Simply sitting up or standing up can bring on an instant improvement in your energy level.

#5 – Eat a Lite, Healthy Breakfast or Fast Until Noon

If you eat an unhealthy breakfast, then you are going to feel sleepy afterward. If you eat a light, healthy breakfast, then your body will use the fuel properly and you’ll avoid the morning doldrums. Or, you can try fasting until noon. Fasting saves you time in the morning and some experts believe that it can even help sharpen your mind. Of course, not eating until noon isn’t going to be for everyone so choose the route that works best for you.

#6 – Have a Morning Routine

Some people have a cup of coffee and read the paper instantly upon waking. Others drink a large glass of cold water or spend a few minutes meditating. Regardless of what you choose to do, getting out of bed at the same time every morning and having a morning ritual does help to signal the mind that it is time to wake up and get ready for the day.
